How This Product Can Be Used:
In this activity students will sort the following polygons into categories based on their characteristics and attributes:
✓ Regular polygons
✓ Irregular polygons
Students will look at the shape and determine to which category it belongs. Additionally, some have the attributes listed out, such as “two sets of parallel sides.” The purpose of this activity is to familiarize students with the attributes of polygons and to classify them based on their attributes. Students will need to take note that some polygons belong to multiple categories. For example, a square is also a rectangle, a parallelogram, and a quadrilateral.
This activity can be done in pairs or individually as a center, return-to-your-seat task, or in small groups. This activity is perfect for tutors, paraprofessionals, volunteers, and substitutes! It’s low prep, too!
