Sharing Our Blessings Blog Hop & Giveaway

Thanksgiving is the time of year when families get together and celebrate their blessings over a rather large feast of food! While turkey is not needed to appreciate the things in life, it is the one time of the year that people tend to stop and really, really think about the wonderful things we are thankful for.

For the next four days, Nov 18-22 we will be giving away paid resources for free to all visitors AND you can win one of ten $25 gift cards to TpT! You do not want to miss this! But hurry, this ends on 11/22 at midnight!

I know that I consider myself blessed in so many incredible ways. I honestly don’t think I could type it all here on this blog without someone falling asleep or the internet police arriving to tell me I posted too many words in one place. (I kid!) With the world flung into chaos during these troubled times of COVID, war in some areas, and everything else that’s going on, I feel very blessed to have my husband, my children, and my extended family. I could not imagine my life without them. While I know we all have different beliefs, I also feel blessed to know Jesus as my Savior. My life has changed in so many ways because of this. Lastly, I am so incredibly thankful for all of the people who have helped me live out my dream each day of helping teachers like you! I could never truly thank you enough. I love creating resources, saving teachers time, and helping children all around the world love learning. Thank you for that!

About the Blog Hop & Giveaway

One way that I want to show my gratitude is to share a blessing with YOU! I have joined other elementary bloggers to bring to you a blog hop that is FULL of normally paid resources for FREE during the FOUR days of the blog hop (November 18-22 at Midnight EST). AND… there are 10 Gift Cards to TpT each valued at $25 being given away too!

So how does it work? Down below there are images for each participating elementary blogger. You’ll hop on over to their page and check out their post. After you check out their post, you’ll grab their normally paid freebie and enter their $25 TpT Gift Card Giveaway. You’ll continue doing this until you’ve checked them all out! But remember, this blog hop is only 4 days, from Nov 18-22 at Midnight EST.

My Freebies for You!

I have two freebies I’m excited to share with you during this blog hop. The first is related to math and the second is reading related. These resources are for around third grade. They can be used for the grades above. The math focuses on elapsed time, so advanced students in 2nd grade may be able to use it. The reading can be used in 2nd for sure.

Math Quest – Elapsed Time

When I was younger I always enjoyed the “Choose Your Own Adventure” books. While this isn’t exactly that, it was inspired by it. In this resource, students are given three to four paths to choose from.

In this Math Quest activity, students choose which path they want to travel down to find clues and items to solve a mystery. Along the way they must solve math problems!

Students must travel each one to collect items and clues to solve the mystery given. For instance, in this freebie, the students have to find the president’s missing pen.

In this Math Quest activity, students travel through multiple paths, like in the choose your own adventure books, to find clues and items to solve a mystery. Along the way they must solve math problems!

Students cannot collect the items and clues without solving a math problem correctly.

In this Math Quest activity, students travel through multiple paths, like in the choose your own adventure books, to find clues and items to solve a mystery. Along the way they must solve math problems!

If they make a mistake, they are given hints about how to solve it and return to the original problem to try it again. As students solve the problems correctly, it progresses them through the quest.

While there is definitely some reading involved, I strived to make sure that all the text in the quests are on the reading grade level of the math standard. For instance, in this freebie, the standard is a third grade standard for elapsed time, so the reading level is third grade. If you have students who are lower readers, you can always have them partner up with stronger readers or complete the activity as a whole class by projecting it.

Ultimately, students are loving these math quests and begging to do more of them! It’s a great way to provide a little extra reading practice AND math at the same time! This digital activity is engaging and helps students practice their technology skills too. When you put it in presentation mode, students just click through by clicking on the “buttons!”

I have several ready to be uploaded to TpT and I’m working on more. I plan on creating these for 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade standards. If you like this resource, definitely follow my store so you know when they are released.

Here’s a quick (but silent) video of a quick run-through of the math quest!

Reading Skills & Strategies Pennants

These reading skills & strategies pennants are perfect for any content area that you want to use them in. They’re an engaging way to review the important reading skills like cause and effect, compare and contrast, and sequencing when you aren’t necessarily in reading. They also include strategies like visualizing, summarizing, and so much more.

Not only are they a great way to check your students’ understanding, but they also make a cute display!

This resource is no longer free because the blog hop is over, but you can still find it on TpT. Head on over and check it out! Click here to grab it.
