There are three areas in teaching that I have always heard (and felt) that I excelled at. First, I have amazing classroom management. I have been hearing that since I started my student teaching. Second, I am a science major, so naturally I love and excel at science. I often have teachers ask me to help them out with science planning, hence the reason my TpT products are all science based currently. I understand that science can sometimes be a challenge. Let’s face it, with all the demands on math and reading these days, it’s nice to just pick up some lesson plans already prepared and just teach them. But the third area (and what this post is about) is differentiation! I have a HUGE passion for differentiation!
It all began as a love affair 10 years ago. I remember sitting in PD during my student teaching and thinking just how cool differentiation was. It was starting to become popular then and I loved, LOVED the idea of mixing things up in the classroom so ALL kids could grasp the concepts. I have always been the type of teacher that liked activities beyond just paper and pencil. Since this piqued my interest, I ordered every book I could find on the topic (and continue to even now)!

With all that said, my plan is to help you! Over the entire month of July, I plan on taking you all through differentiation – inside and out – so you can apply it this year in your classroom. I will teach you strategies so you can meet the needs of all your learners. I will teach you how to tier lessons and keep records. (There will be a few other things I blog about, such as finishing up my book study on Making Thinking Visible and sharing the TpT Conference. However, my main focus for July is differentiation!)
It all kicks off today, July 1st , so be sure to tell your friends!
